Kentucky Confirms Its First Equine Case of WNV for 2020

Officials at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) confirmed the state’s first case of West Nile virus (WNV) in an equine for 2020.

The affected horse, an unvaccinated 15-year-old Quarter Horse gelding from Washington County, presented with clinical signs in September. Signs consisted of hypersensitivity to touch and knuckling over.

The horse is reportedly recovering.
